University of Strathclyde: Degree and Transcript Authentication for Taiwan

Ginkgo Advisory

Strathclyde degree authentication for Taiwan involves more than obtaining an official academic record or certified copy. Start with the correct academic record, establish how its authenticity can be checked, and confirm the document format required by your university, employer or authority in Taiwan. Where the FCDO route is appropriate, Ginkgo Advisory coordinates solicitor verification, solicitor certification, a paper Apostille and authentication by the responsible Taipei Representative Office (TRO).

Our express service estimates are 2 working days for the FCDO paper Apostille stage and 5 working days for an eligible TRO London or Edinburgh authentication stage. Verification, preparation and delivery take additional time. We confirm the applicable office, route and express availability before submission.

Strathclyde: official degree, transcript and document guidance

Official institution page: https://www.strath.ac.uk/professionalservices/studentexperience/studentlifecycle/transcripts/

The University of Strathclyde provides academic transcripts through its online shop. The transcript records approved results, so applicants should check that the relevant marks have been confirmed before ordering. The graduate must make the purchase personally: the university does not permit a third party to buy the transcript. It can, however, send the transcript to a nominated third party using the delivery details provided by the graduate.

If a Strathclyde transcript is needed for verification, place the order yourself and agree the delivery details with Ginkgo Advisory first. This respects the university\’s ordering rule while allowing the official record to reach the professional preparing your documents for overseas use.

Planning the Taiwan application around these records

For a Strathclyde transcript intended for Taiwan, you must make the purchase yourself even where Ginkgo manages the later authentication work. Agree the delivery details first, because the university can send the record to a nominated third party. Also ensure that the relevant results have been approved before ordering the document for a completed-award application.

For Method 1, delivery can be planned around the evidence the solicitor needs to review. For Method 2, confirm the TRO\’s direct-delivery and document requirements before naming it as recipient. Graduate-only ordering remains a university requirement regardless of which authentication route you choose.

The certified-copy mistake: academic records and legalisation are different

An institutional stamp, replacement original or official transcript can provide suitable academic evidence. It does not, by itself, complete the preparation for an FCDO Apostille or TRO authentication. Before buying another Strathclyde document, establish what is missing: the underlying record, issuer verification, professional certification, or the subsequent official authentication.

  • Issuer verification checks the award or document through an accepted institutional source.
  • Solicitor certification records the checks actually completed. A simple comparison of a copy with an original does not necessarily verify the award.
  • FCDO legalisation authenticates the relevant signature, seal or stamp.
  • TRO authentication is the further stage in the Method 1 chain described here.

The recipient may require separate treatment of the degree certificate and transcript, a particular certifier, originals, certified copies or translations. GOV.UK explains the legalisation requirements. Neither an Apostille nor TRO authentication establishes academic equivalence or guarantees an appointment, admission or professional registration.

Method 1: solicitor verification, paper FCDO Apostille and TRO authentication

Ginkgo\’s Method 1 service provides one point of contact for the agreed UK process. With the necessary consent, we assess verification through University of Strathclyde, the actual awarding body or an accepted official record. We then arrange appropriate solicitor certification and the official stages.

  1. Review the records: check the award, transcript, intended use in Taiwan and recipient\’s written instructions.
  2. Verify and certify: obtain sufficient authenticity evidence and prepare certification that accurately reflects the checks performed.
  3. Arrange the paper Apostille: submit the ready, appropriately certified document to the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).
  4. Complete TRO authentication: prepare the applicable forms, identity and authority documents, submit to the responsible office, and arrange return delivery.

We assess whether your existing records can be used before recommending replacement orders. A university PDF or digital credential may assist verification, but is not automatically a solicitor-certified document or an e-Apostille. This Taiwan service uses a paper Apostille; an electronic route should not be substituted without confirming acceptance.

Method 2: the university supplies confirmation directly to the TRO

Method 2 relies on the issuer supplying evidence directly in a format accepted by the responsible office. Depending on the application, this can mean an issuer-sent PDF academic confirmation or certified academic document, an accepted university or third-party platform share, or appropriately sealed documents mailed by the issuer. Your own forwarded scan is not equivalent to evidence sent directly by the university.

The applicant must also supply the application materials and, where applicable, the original document or an eligible BOCA-endorsed copy. A document-ordering or digital-sharing service offered by Strathclyde does not automatically establish TRO acceptance; the particular format and sharing arrangements must fit the office\’s requirements.

Practical questionMethod 1 through GinkgoMethod 2
Who coordinates the stages? One contact manages the agreed verification, certification, FCDO and TRO work. The applicant usually coordinates issuer evidence and the TRO application.
Is academic verification needed?Yes; sufficient evidence must support the solicitor\’s certification.Yes; acceptable issuer evidence must reach the TRO directly.
Can originals be retained?Potentially, if suitable verification and certified copies are accepted.Depends on the original-document or eligible BOCA-copy requirements.
Which costs less?Includes professional verification, certification and Apostille work.May avoid those costs; university and application fees may still apply.

Six reasons to choose Ginkgo\’s Method 1 service

  • One UK contact: reduce separate coordination with the solicitor, FCDO, TRO and delivery providers.
  • Evidence checked early: identify missing records or consent before preparing the official submissions.
  • Less direct-to-TRO administration: where the completed Method 1 chain is accepted, reduce your separate work arranging an issuer email, platform invitation or sealed envelope.
  • Clear processing stages: distinguish the university\’s response time from the FCDO, TRO and courier stages.
  • Degree and transcript planned together: check whether each document needs separate certification and authentication.
  • Potentially less handling of originals: use accepted certified copies where verification and the receiving authority\’s requirements allow.

These advantages concern coordination and preparation. Method 1 still requires reliable evidence, and the solicitor or TRO may request further verification. A responsive university with an accepted direct-confirmation service can make Method 2 efficient and economical.

Express timing for Strathclyde documents: 2 working days plus 5 working days

StageWhat the estimate covers
Records and verificationInstitutional records, consent, authenticity checks and solicitor preparation. Time depends on the available evidence and issuer response.
FCDO paper ApostilleGinkgo express service estimate: 2 working days after the ready document is submitted and accepted, subject to processing and any enquiries.
TRO London or EdinburghExpress service estimate: 5 working days for an eligible, complete application accepted by the responsible office, subject to service availability and its processing rules.
Transfers and return deliveryDocument transfers, collection and delivery require additional time.

This is not a seven-working-day end-to-end guarantee. University delays, additional enquiries, weekends, relevant holidays and courier transit affect the overall schedule. The two-day paper stage is Ginkgo\’s service estimate, not the standard public FCDO turnaround. For Edinburgh applications, we confirm route acceptance and express availability before committing to a timetable.

TRO London or Edinburgh: use the correct office

Jurisdiction must be checked against the issuing institution and documents, including any different awarding body or historic institution name. Edinburgh covers Scotland, northern England from the Durham–Cumbria boundary and the Isle of Man. Your present address alone does not determine the correct office. We check the relevant submission arrangements for your Strathclyde documents rather than selecting an office simply because it appears faster.

What to send for your Strathclyde document review

  • Clear scans of your degree certificate and full transcript, or details of the records currently available.
  • The award title, graduation year, student number if known, and awarding institution printed on the document.
  • The Taiwan recipient\’s written requirements, intended use and deadline.
  • Details of official digital records, previous institution names or partner-awarding arrangements relevant to your award.
  • Your current location, the location of any originals and the delivery destination.

Let us know whether the documents are for employment, teaching, an academic appointment, further study or another purpose. These examples do not mean every such application requires authentication; the receiving organisation\’s instructions determine the required document set.

Strathclyde authentication for Taiwan: frequently asked questions

Can Ginkgo purchase my Strathclyde transcript on my behalf for TRO authentication?

Strathclyde's stated rule requires the graduate to purchase the transcript personally. Ginkgo can help you plan the document and delivery requirements, and the university permits a nominated third-party recipient. Confirm that destination before paying so the official record reaches the person or office required for your chosen route.

Does a replacement certificate or transcript include an Apostille?

No. Replacement issue provides the academic record. It does not itself complete solicitor preparation, FCDO legalisation or TRO authentication. Ask us to review the evidence already available before paying for another copy solely for legalisation.

Can I start remotely without posting my original?

Yes, the initial review can start with clear scans. Whether the full case can proceed remotely depends on authenticity evidence, identity and consent checks, and acceptance of the proposed copies. We confirm any original-document requirement before arranging submission.

Does BOCA\’s original-and-copy endorsement complete authentication?

No. For eligible applicants, BOCA\’s procedure compares a copy with the original before the endorsed copy and application materials go to the overseas mission. It is a preliminary step, not completed TRO authentication. See BOCA\’s academic-copy guidance and its document authentication process diagram.

Is Method 1 always quicker than direct university confirmation?

No. The practical comparison depends on the evidence already available, the issuer\’s response and TRO requirements. Method 1 offers managed preparation and coordinated official stages; Method 2 may be suitable where the issuer can promptly provide acceptable direct evidence.
