When preparing Pearson Qualifications qualification certificates for use in Qatar, identify the exact award title, issuer and achievement record. The supporting documents depend on the qualification and the submission requested. Ginkgo Advisory can review the proposed set and arrange our solicitor\’s certification, separate UK FCDO apostilles and Qatari Consulate in London legalisation, where the document is accepted for that route.
The London consular process is also commonly called Qatar Embassy attestation or consular legalisation. Begin with the exact document requested by the Qatar employer, educational institution or professional regulator, and identify its issuing origin before commissioning the UK preparation.
Pearson: identify the certificate and supporting record
Document scope: Pearson Edexcel and BTEC records use different certificate services; a BTEC qualification, school examination result and subsequent university degree remain separate awards.
The issuer\’s published record services distinguish these documents and procedures:
- General qualifications normally receive a certifying statement of results through replacement services.
- BTEC and several vocational qualification types use replacement certificates per level or course.
- Provisional-results confirmation is separate from the replacement service.
Select the Pearson service matching the actual Edexcel, BTEC or other qualification. A certified statement of results may be the official replacement evidence available rather than a duplicate certificate. Confirm whether the Qatar recipient and Consulate will accept that document and any required school or college letter before individual certification and apostilles.
Issuer guidance: Pearson certificate and provisional-results services; Pearson replacement-document types and application guidance.
Which Qatar document route applies?
A qualification certificate, unit result, academic transcript, membership certificate and letter of good standing have different contents. Establish which one the recipient needs. An endorsed course, CPD record, competence card or university progression pathway should retain its actual description; it should not be relabelled as a completed university degree.
The educational checklist below concerns a qualification submitted through the relevant educational legalisation route. A professional membership or registration document does not automatically have a course transcript or academic covering letter. For school examination, language-test, training or professional-status records, obtain confirmation of the accepted category and supporting evidence for the specific submission.
See the Qatari mission\’s document legalisation guidance. Recognition of a qualification or professional status in Qatar is a separate assessment by the receiving authority.
Educational submissions: certificate, transcript and institutional cover letter
Where the Consulate\’s higher or further educational document route applies, prepare the following three items together:
| Educational document | UK preparation | Submission |
|---|---|---|
| Qualification certificate or diploma | Separate UK solicitor or notary certification and an individual FCDO apostille | Submit with the supporting transcript and institutional letter |
| Supporting transcript or accepted official academic record | Separate UK solicitor or notary certification and an individual FCDO apostille | Submit with the certificate and institutional letter |
| Cover letter from the appropriate issuing educational institution | Separate UK solicitor or notary certification and an individual FCDO apostille | Submit with the certificate and academic record |
If the issuer provides a unit statement, mark form, results slip, certified statement or confirmation in place of a conventional transcript, identify it accurately and seek approval of the proposed alternative before certification. Do not assume that the absence of a university-style transcript removes the supporting-document requirement.
No bundled certification or apostilles
Documents notarised and apostilled as a bundle are not accepted under any circumstances for the Qatari Consulate submission. Each document must be apostilled separately. The certificate, transcript and institutional letter must retain their own certification and apostilles. Sending individually prepared documents in the same application is different from binding multiple documents under one certification or apostille.
Identify each additional qualification, results record or professional letter separately when requesting a quotation. One apostille for an educational certificate should not be used to cover separate membership or training documents.
What must the educational covering letter confirm?
For an educational submission requiring this letter, the institution must confirm all of the following:
- Authenticity: the genuineness of the qualification and certificate.
- Mode of study: full-time or part-time attendance.
- Type of study: face-to-face or on-site learning, distance learning, online learning or e-learning, as actually delivered.
- Study location: where the course was studied.
- Examination location: where examinations or assessments were held, described accurately for the programme.
- Award title and type: the exact certificate, diploma or qualification awarded; for a university award, its actual BA, BSc, master\’s or doctoral title.
- Course length: the programme\’s duration.
- Actual study dates: the start and end dates of study, rather than only the award or certificate issue date.
An awarding organisation and teaching centre may hold different parts of this information. Confirm which institution or institutions must provide the statements and whether the proposed letter is accepted. A standard verification response should be checked for all required contents. An applicant\’s or document agent\’s explanation cannot replace institutional confirmation of academic facts.
Each institutional letter submitted for legalisation requires separate certification and its own apostille. The academic letter is distinct from the Consulate\’s submission covering form.
Our solicitor certification, UK FCDO apostille and consular service
- Review the actual records. Send readable copies, official verification details where available and the Qatar recipient\’s instructions. Identify the document\’s issuer, purpose, study or assessment route and any previous legalisation.
- Resolve eligibility and supporting evidence. Establish the applicable consular document category, accepted certificate version and any required results or institutional letters before certification is commissioned.
- Certify each document individually. Our UK solicitor reviews the available records and verification evidence and prepares appropriate separate certification. A true-copy statement records a comparison with the document examined; any additional authenticity statement must reflect the checks actually undertaken.
- Arrange individual UK FCDO apostilles. The FCDO authenticates the relevant signature, stamp or seal. It does not determine academic equivalence, professional recognition or eligibility for a Qatar work visa.
- Arrange Qatari Consulate legalisation in London. The individually prepared records are submitted in the accepted form, subject to consular assessment and any additional evidence requested.
The GOV.UK apostille guidance explains the UK stage and document-format checks. The UK guidance on legalisation for Qatar describes the London embassy stage and onward Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) attestation in Qatar. Establish the later recipient and local attestation requirements as part of planning the completed submission.
Digital records, originals and previously legalised documents
A secure certificate portal, QR match, digital badge and printed copy are different forms of evidence. Preserve the complete official record and verification access for the reviewing solicitor. Availability of an electronic certificate does not establish that an e-Apostille or printed PDF will be accepted for the London consular stage.
The mission\’s general instructions allow original documents or true copies with individual certification and apostilles. Select the version appropriate to the actual document and recipient. For foreign-issued records, establish the country-of-origin authentication route rather than assuming a UK teaching connection makes every supporting document UK issued.
If an educational degree certificate or transcript has previously been legalised, submit a copy of that previously legalised document with the new educational document requiring legalisation. Include its earlier apostille and consular endorsement in the copy, and explain which item is being added.
Study format, qualification level and Qatar acceptance
Where an educational qualification is being submitted, disclose the actual learning and assessment arrangements. The London mission\’s published guidance excludes distance-learning and online awards but describes an exception for postgraduate MSc and PhD degrees. That exception should not be assumed to cover a professional designation, vocational diploma or Level 7 award merely because it is described as being at postgraduate level.
Obtain written confirmation for the exact programme and proposed evidence before paying for certification and apostilles where eligibility is uncertain. An examination-only route, self-study arrangement or mixed-delivery programme should be explained accurately rather than assigned an unsupported study classification.
If a separate university bachelor\’s degree is also being submitted, the mission\’s published guidance lists study-period immigration or UK/EU passport evidence for those cases. Confirm the evidence relevant to that particular award. University degrees, vocational qualifications, professional status and local occupational registration should each be assessed for their actual purpose.
Frequently asked questions: Pearson certificates for Qatar
Can your solicitor certify my Pearson document?
Our UK solicitor can review the actual certificate or letter and available verification evidence for the proposed submission. Confirm eligibility, accepted format and the required supporting records before arranging individual certification, FCDO apostilles and the consular stage.
Do I need a transcript for a membership certificate?
The academic transcript requirement concerns the applicable educational submission. A membership or current-status document needs its own category and supporting-evidence check. Ask the recipient which qualification or professional status it wants to establish and obtain the correct issuer\’s record.
What if the body issues a results statement instead of a transcript?
Describe the official document accurately and obtain confirmation that it is accepted for the intended Qatar submission. A results statement, mark form or unit record should not be renamed a full academic transcript or qualification certificate.
Can several documents share one apostille?
No. Documents notarised or apostilled as a bundle are not accepted for this submission. Each document selected for legalisation needs separate preparation and its own FCDO apostille.
Does an educational covering letter need its own apostille?
Yes. Where the educational letter is required, it is separately certified and apostilled alongside the qualification certificate and supporting academic record.
Does legalisation confirm degree equivalence or permission to work?
Legalisation completes a document authentication stage. The Qatar educational authority, professional regulator, employer or immigration authority assesses the separate recognition, registration or employment application.
