If you need to use an ICM certificate overseas, it is important to follow the correct route from the start.
ICM is the Institute of Commercial Management, a UK-based professional body and awarding organisation. Its website says it was established as a charity for global outreach in 1979, provides qualifications in business, management, and related vocational areas, and works internationally through a large network of approved centres. ICM also explains that, in England, Ofqual regulates only the ICM Level 2 Award in Psychology, while its wider overseas qualification portfolio is self-regulated for the non-English market under its internal quality assurance processes.
At Ginkgo Advisory, we help clients handle the process clearly, correctly, and efficiently.
About ICM certificates
ICM is not a university. It is an awarding organisation and professional body. Its qualifications span a wide range of subject areas, and its qualification pages explain how ICM titles qualifications as Award, Certificate, or Diploma based on Total Qualification Time, with a certificate being a medium-sized qualification.
Because ICM uses its own certificate and qualification framework, it is important to build the right verification and authentication trail before moving on to apostille or embassy legalisation. ICM also publishes certification dates for hard copy certificates and transcripts, which supports the importance of checking the exact record and document route first.
How Ginkgo Advisory can help
1. Verification directly with ICM
For an ICM certificate, the starting point is usually verification directly with ICM.
ICM’s official site provides its head office contact details and learner guidance, and states that learners should check with ICM Head Office regarding approved teaching centres. Its qualifications pages also make clear that ICM controls its own qualification framework and certification structure. Based on that framework, the safest route is usually to verify the certificate directly with ICM before moving to legalisation.
We can help you prepare the case properly, including:
- checking the ICM certificate and supporting records
- helping structure the verification trail directly with ICM
- checking whether a transcript or other supporting record should also be included
- preparing the file for the next legalisation stage
2. Solicitor authentication linked to authenticity verification
This is where our approach is different.
Many agents or solicitors only issue wording such as “certified true copy of a document presented to me” or “this is a printout presented to me.” That is often weaker than what overseas authorities actually want.
At Ginkgo Advisory, where appropriate, we can arrange solicitor certification linked to an independent authenticity trail, based on the ICM verification route and supporting records. That means the certification is built on more than a simple copy check. It is often stronger and more suitable for international use.
3. FCDO apostille
Once the document package has been properly prepared, we can arrange UK apostille through the FCDO.
We can also offer a 2 working day UK apostille service in many cases, subject to document readiness and submission timing.
4. Embassy legalisation or attestation
If the destination country requires more than apostille alone, we can also help arrange embassy legalisation or consular attestation after the FCDO stage.
Why clients use Ginkgo Advisory
We do more than process documents.
We help clients build the right verification and authenticity trail for international use, including:
- identifying the correct ICM verification route
- checking the certificate and supporting records
- arranging stronger solicitor authentication wording
- coordinating FCDO apostille
- supporting embassy legalisation or attestation
This is especially useful when the receiving authority wants more than a simple certified copy.
