If you need to use an NCFE International certificate overseas, it is important to follow the correct route from the start. NCFE says it is an educational charity and a major UK awarding organisation with over 170 years of experience, and that its international offer supports centres outside the UK through NCFE and its CACHE specialist portfolio.

NCFE is recognised by the UK Department for Education and regulated by Ofqual, and it says it offers more than 1,000 Ofqual-regulated qualifications as well as bespoke programmes through its international team. It also states that it works with many international providers, including training centres, schools, colleges, and universities.

At Ginkgo Advisory, we help clients handle the process clearly, correctly, and efficiently. We focus on building the right document trail before apostille or embassy legalisation.

About NCFE International certificates

NCFE is not a university. It is a UK awarding organisation that designs, develops, and certificates qualifications from Entry Level up to Level 6. NCFE says its qualifications are trusted because it is regulated by Ofqual in England and also recognised by Qualifications Wales and CCEA in Northern Ireland.

For international use, it is important to distinguish between regulated NCFE qualifications and other international or customised routes. NCFE’s international pages say that some customised qualifications are unregulated, so the exact qualification route should be checked first before any legalisation work begins.

How Ginkgo Advisory can help

1. Verification directly with NCFE

For an NCFE International certificate, the safest starting point is usually verification directly with NCFE.

NCFE’s certificate support pages show that it operates formal certificate processes including replacement certificates, sample certificates, and Verification of Achievement. NCFE states that a Verification of Achievement can be requested for qualifications awarded within the last 10 academic years, and sometimes for certificates issued after 1 September 1994 for some qualifications. NCFE also says replacement certificates are available for certain NCFE, CACHE, Functional Skills, and V Certs qualifications achieved since 2012, while earlier awards may instead be supported by a Proof of Qualification if records are still held.

We can help you prepare the case properly, including:

  • checking the NCFE certificate and supporting records
  • helping structure the verification trail directly with NCFE
  • checking whether a Verification of Achievement, replacement certificate, transcript-equivalent record, or other supporting document should also be included
  • preparing the file for the next legalisation stage

2. Solicitor authentication linked to authenticity verification

This is where our approach is different.

Many agents or solicitors only issue wording such as “certified true copy of a document presented to me” or “this is a printout presented to me.” That is often weaker than what overseas authorities actually want.

At Ginkgo Advisory, where appropriate, we can arrange solicitor certification linked to an independent authenticity trail, based on the NCFE verification route and supporting records. That means the certification is built on more than a simple copy check. It is often stronger and more suitable for international use.

3. FCDO apostille

Once the document package has been properly prepared, we can arrange UK apostille through the FCDO.

We can also offer a 2 working day UK apostille service in many cases, subject to document readiness and submission timing.

4. Embassy legalisation or attestation

If the destination country requires more than apostille alone, we can also help arrange embassy legalisation or consular attestation after the FCDO stage.

Why clients use Ginkgo Advisory

We do more than process documents.

We help clients build the right verification and authenticity trail for international use, including:

  • identifying the correct NCFE verification route
  • checking whether the qualification is regulated or unregulated
  • arranging stronger solicitor authentication wording
  • coordinating FCDO apostille
  • supporting embassy legalisation or attestation

This is especially useful when the receiving authority wants more than a simple certified copy.
