Ginkgo Advisory provides Rose Bruford College degree verification and apostille services for graduates using their qualifications overseas.

Our service can include:

  • direct academic verification;
  • historic awarding-body checks;
  • enhanced solicitor certification;
  • authenticity confirmation;
  • FCDO apostille;
  • a 2-working-day express apostille option; and
  • embassy legalisation where required.

Rose Bruford College received taught degree-awarding powers in 2017. It awarded its first degrees under its own authority in September 2018. Therefore, the correct verification route depends on the award date and the institution named on the certificate.

Who verifies the qualification?

Rose Bruford does not currently offer online verification through HEDD. A graduate or authorised third party should contact the College or the relevant validating university directly.

The correct verifier may be:

  • Rose Bruford College;
  • the University of Manchester;
  • the University of Kent;
  • The Open University for a CNAA award;
  • London Metropolitan University; or
  • another awarding institution.

Rose Bruford awards from 2018

Rose Bruford can verify degrees awarded under its own degree-awarding powers.

The College can also issue a duplicate Rose Bruford degree certificate. The current fee is £80, and processing normally takes four to six weeks.

University of Manchester awards

Rose Bruford transferred validation of its courses to the University of Manchester during the 1990s. Therefore, many awards issued before Rose Bruford began awarding its own degrees carry the University of Manchester name.

Third-party verification of a Manchester-awarded qualification normally uses HEDD. The enquirer should identify Rose Bruford as the affiliated institution.

University of Kent awards

Rose Bruford courses were validated by the University of Kent from 1987 before validation later transferred to Manchester.

Where Kent appears on the certificate, the University of Kent may control:

  • award verification;
  • replacement certificates;
  • authenticated certificate copies; and
  • available historic records.

Kent currently charges £35 for a replacement certificate and £6 to authenticate a copy.

CNAA awards

Older Rose Bruford degrees may name the Council for National Academic Awards, known as CNAA.

The Open University maintains the CNAA archive. It can provide:

  • a certificate-style pro forma;
  • a verification letter; or
  • email verification.

The current fee is £60, and third-party applications can take up to seven working days. The Open University does not hold transcript information for CNAA awards.

London Metropolitan University awards

Rose Bruford’s Foundation Degree in Organising Live Arts was validated by London Metropolitan University. Therefore, London Met may control verification and replacement documents for that award.

Candidate consent

A third-party verification request normally requires written consent from the graduate.

The consent should include:

  • the graduate’s full name;
  • any former name;
  • date of birth;
  • course and qualification;
  • study dates;
  • the authorised third party;
  • the information that may be released;
  • the graduate’s signature; and
  • the date.

The exact consent format depends on the awarding university.

Information required

We normally request:

  • the front and back of the certificate;
  • any available transcript;
  • the graduate’s passport;
  • full name used during study;
  • date of birth;
  • student number, if known;
  • course and qualification titles;
  • award year and classification;
  • attendance dates;
  • signed consent; and
  • the intended country of use.

The certificate is essential because it identifies the correct awarding body.

Academic transcripts

Rose Bruford currently offers an official academic transcript for £20.

The transcript can confirm:

  • course-unit marks;
  • attendance dates; and
  • award details.

The graduate must order it personally. The College advises applicants to allow around seven days for delivery.

For a Manchester-awarded qualification, the University of Manchester may also provide a transcript. Its current standard transcript fee is £20 per copy, although older records may take longer to process.

Enhanced solicitor certification

A basic certified true copy only confirms that the copy matches the document presented to the solicitor.

Enhanced solicitor certification can also use independent academic evidence.

Depending on the case, our solicitor may:

  1. identify the correct awarding institution;
  2. obtain academic verification;
  3. review the original certificate;
  4. compare a transcript or verification letter;
  5. check the graduate’s identity;
  6. confirm the institutional history; and
  7. certify the document using wording supported by the evidence.

We only confirm authenticity where reliable verification supports that conclusion.

FCDO apostille

After verification and solicitor certification, the document can normally proceed to the FCDO for an apostille.

The usual route is:

academic verification → solicitor certification → FCDO apostille

An apostille authenticates the relevant UK signature, stamp or seal. It does not independently verify the qualification.

Ginkgo Advisory offers a 2-working-day express FCDO apostille option for eligible documents.

However, this period covers the FCDO stage only. It does not include:

  • academic verification;
  • transcript or replacement-certificate production;
  • historic record searches;
  • solicitor enquiries;
  • embassy legalisation; or
  • delivery.

Embassy legalisation

Some destinations require embassy or consular legalisation after the FCDO stage.

The receiving authority may request:

  • the original certificate;
  • a solicitor-certified copy;
  • awarding-body verification;
  • an academic transcript;
  • a replacement certificate;
  • a certified translation; or
  • specific certification wording.

Therefore, we check the destination requirements before preparing the documents.

Our process

  1. Review the certificate and identify the awarding body.
  2. Obtain the graduate’s signed consent.
  3. Request verification from Rose Bruford or the relevant university.
  4. Compare the verification with the certificate and identification.
  5. Complete enhanced solicitor certification where supported.
  6. Arrange the FCDO apostille.
  7. Complete embassy legalisation where required.
  8. Return the completed documents.
