Warwickshire College Group, also known as WCG, offers higher education programmes through Warwickshire College and University Centre.

Ginkgo Advisory can assist with direct degree verification, enhanced solicitor certification, FCDO apostille and embassy legalisation. A 2 working day express FCDO apostille option is available after verification and certification are complete.

Quick answer

Warwickshire College Group qualifications cannot be verified through HEDD.

Third-party verification must be requested directly from WCG by email. Written candidate consent is required. The College may confirm:

  • former student status;
  • qualification awarded;
  • grade or classification; and
  • attendance dates.

The usual process is:

direct WCG or awarding-university verification → enhanced solicitor certification → FCDO apostille → embassy legalisation where required

HEDD does not list a fixed verification fee. (hedd.ac.uk)

Direct qualification verification

Verification requests can be sent to:

Email: info@wcg.ac.uk
Telephone: 0300 456 0047

A request should normally include:

  • the candidate’s name during study;
  • any previous name;
  • date of birth;
  • course and qualification;
  • college or campus attended;
  • attendance dates;
  • award year;
  • classification;
  • student number, if known;
  • a certificate copy; and
  • written candidate consent.

WCG may direct the enquiry to its Higher Education, Registry, Examinations or Student Records team.

Check the awarding body

Degrees studied through Warwickshire College Group may be awarded by different institutions. The awarding body printed on the certificate determines the correct verification and replacement-document route. (hedd.ac.uk)

A certificate may name:

  • Warwickshire College Group;
  • Warwickshire College and University Centre;
  • Warwickshire College;
  • Coventry University;
  • another partner university;
  • Pearson or BTEC; or
  • another professional awarding body.

WCG now holds indefinite Foundation and Bachelor’s degree-awarding powers. However, historic and partner programmes may still carry awards from another university.

Transcripts and replacement certificates

Former students should contact WCG to request:

  • academic transcripts;
  • replacement certificates;
  • confirmation-of-award letters;
  • confirmation of attendance;
  • certified certificate copies; or
  • module information.

Where WCG issued the degree, its records team may provide the document.

If a partner university awarded the qualification, that university may need to issue the transcript, verification letter or replacement certificate.

Solicitor verification and certification

A basic solicitor-certified copy confirms that the copy matches the document presented to the solicitor.

It does not independently establish that the qualification is authentic.

Our enhanced service reviews the document against reliable evidence, such as:

  • direct WCG verification;
  • confirmation from the awarding university;
  • an official transcript;
  • a replacement certificate;
  • an award letter; or
  • another official academic record.

Where the evidence supports it, our solicitor can provide certification with authenticity confirmation.

FCDO apostille

After verification and solicitor certification, the document can proceed to the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office.

An apostille authenticates the relevant UK signature, stamp or seal. It does not independently verify the underlying academic qualification.

The recommended sequence is:

academic verification → enhanced solicitor certification → FCDO apostille

Our 2 working day express FCDO apostille option covers the apostille stage only.

It excludes:

  • WCG or university verification;
  • transcript production;
  • replacement certificates;
  • archive searches;
  • courier delivery; and
  • embassy legalisation.

Embassy legalisation

Documents intended for a destination outside the Hague apostille system may require further embassy or consular legalisation.

A typical route is:

solicitor certification → FCDO legalisation → embassy legalisation

The receiving authority may also require an official transcript, award letter, certified translation or identity document.

What to send us

Please provide:

  • a clear certificate scan;
  • the transcript, if available;
  • the candidate’s name during study;
  • course and qualification;
  • campus attended;
  • attendance dates;
  • award year and classification;
  • student number, if known;
  • destination country; and
  • receiving authority’s requirements.

We will identify whether verification should come from WCG, Coventry University, another partner university or an external awarding body.

Frequently asked questions

Can HEDD verify a Warwickshire College Group qualification?

No. HEDD directs third parties to contact Warwickshire College Group directly. (hedd.ac.uk)

Is candidate consent required?

Yes. The candidate must provide written consent before WCG releases academic information.

Does WCG award its own degrees?

Yes. Warwickshire College has indefinite Foundation and Bachelor’s degree-awarding powers. Some historic and partner programmes are awarded by other universities.

Who issues a replacement certificate?

The awarding body printed on the original certificate determines the correct route.

Does an apostille verify the degree?

No. WCG or the awarding university verifies the academic record. The apostille authenticates the relevant UK signature, stamp or seal.

Can Ginkgo Advisory manage the complete process?

Yes. We can coordinate direct verification, enhanced solicitor certification, FCDO apostille, embassy legalisation and return delivery.
