If you need an ACRO Police Certificate and a UK FCDO apostille, it is important to understand one key point:

ACRO does not offer an apostille service.

ACRO issues the Police Certificate, but the apostille must be arranged separately. Ginkgo Advisory can assist with the apostille stage after the original ACRO Police Certificate is issued.

We can help in two practical ways.

Option 1: You Apply for the ACRO Police Certificate Yourself

You can create an ACRO account and apply for the ACRO Police Certificate yourself.

During the application, you can ask ACRO to send the original certificate directly to our London office.

Once we receive the original ACRO Police Certificate, Ginkgo Advisory can arrange the UK FCDO apostille in 2 working days, where the document is suitable for our express apostille route.

This option may suit applicants who prefer to manage the ACRO application themselves, but want professional support with the apostille stage.

The process is:

You apply to ACRO → ACRO sends the original certificate to our London office → Ginkgo Advisory arranges the UK FCDO apostille → We return the apostilled certificate to you

Option 2: Ginkgo Advisory Applies for the ACRO Police Certificate for You

If you prefer a managed process, Ginkgo Advisory can apply for the ACRO Police Certificate on your behalf.

After ACRO issues the certificate, we can arrange the UK FCDO apostille for you.

This option may suit applicants who want support with both the ACRO application and the apostille process.

The process is:

Ginkgo Advisory prepares the ACRO application → ACRO issues the certificate → Ginkgo Advisory arranges the UK FCDO apostille → We return the apostilled certificate to you

Can ACRO Apostille My Police Certificate?

No. ACRO does not offer an apostille service.

If your ACRO Police Certificate needs an apostille, you must arrange legalisation separately through the UK document legalisation route.

An apostille is an official government-issued certificate added to a document so that it can be recognised when presented in another country.

If you want ACRO to send your certificate directly to the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, also known as the FCDO, ACRO directs applicants to its Form Help Page for further guidance.

Alternatively, you can ask ACRO to send the original certificate directly to Ginkgo Advisory’s London office, and we can arrange the UK FCDO apostille in 2 working days, where suitable.

Can ACRO Translate My Police Certificate?

No. ACRO does not offer a translation service.

If the receiving authority asks for a translation, you should check whether it requires a certified translation, sworn translation, notarised translation, apostilled translation or another specific format.

The translation requirement depends on the destination country and the receiving authority.

What If the Information on the ACRO Certificate Is Incorrect?

If you believe the information on your ACRO Police Certificate is incorrect, you should contact ACRO Customer Services.

You should include your ACRO application reference number in any email. If you call ACRO, you should also have the reference number ready.

If the issue concerns information held on the Police National Computer, also known as the PNC, ACRO says you should contact the police force that owns the data. ACRO Customer Services can advise you who to contact.

What If You Need to Raise a Concern About ACRO’s Service?

If you wish to raise a concern about ACRO’s service, you should contact ACRO Customer Services through ACRO’s Contact Us page.

This may apply if you have concerns about the application process, service handling or certificate-related issues.

What If You Need Help Completing the ACRO Application Form?

If you need further guidance on completing the ACRO application form, ACRO directs applicants to its Help Page.

If you still need advice after reading the guidance, you should contact ACRO Customer Services.

If Ginkgo Advisory applies for the ACRO Police Certificate on your behalf, we can help manage the application process and then arrange the UK FCDO apostille after ACRO issues the certificate.

What If You Cannot Apply Online?

If you cannot make an online application, ACRO advises applicants to contact ACRO Customer Services.

This may apply if you have access issues, technical difficulties or cannot complete the online process for another reason.

What If the Online ACRO Form Is Not Working?

If the online form is not working, ACRO advises applicants to try accessing the form again.

If the issue continues, you should contact ACRO Customer Services for further advice.
