Bangladeshi nationals who act as directors or people with significant control, known as PSCs, of UK companies must complete Companies House identity verification by the deadline that applies to each role.
After you verify your identity successfully, Companies House gives you an 11-character personal code. The code belongs to you rather than to a particular company. You can use the same code for every UK company where you act as a director or PSC, but you must connect it separately to each role.
Quick Answer for Bangladeshi Directors and PSCs
For most Bangladeshi nationals, a valid biometric Bangladesh passport provides the clearest identity document.
For a person-led remote ACSP video check, you will normally need either:
- two Group A photographic identity documents; or
- one Group A photographic identity document and one Group B supporting document.
A Bangladeshi passport can provide Group A evidence. A Bangladesh motor driving licence may also qualify where the exact physical card matches the model listed on PRADO.
However, the Bangladeshi National Identity Card, including the Smart NID, does not currently appear on PRADO’s Bangladesh document list. You should therefore not rely on an NID card as one of the two required documents under the current Companies House ACSP rules.
For many applicants, the most practical combinations are:
- Bangladesh passport and PRADO-listed motor driving licence;
- Bangladesh passport and bank statement;
- Bangladesh passport and utility bill;
- Bangladesh passport and mortgage statement;
- Bangladesh passport and birth certificate; or
- Bangladesh passport and marriage certificate.
Important Point About the Bangladesh NID Card
Bangladesh issues National Identity Cards through the Bangladesh Election Commission. The country introduced Smart NID cards in 2016. These cards are machine-readable and contain biometric information in an embedded chip. Older NID cards also remain in circulation.
Despite its official status in Bangladesh, the NID card does not automatically qualify for Companies House identity verification.
The Companies House Group A list allows:
- passports;
- certain UK and European photographic documents; and
- another type of photographic identity document listed on PRADO.
As checked on 30 July 2026, PRADO’s Bangladesh page lists only passport and driving-licence categories. It does not list a Bangladeshi national identity card category. A foreign NID card also does not appear in the Companies House Group B list.
The practical conclusion is:
Do not rely on a Bangladesh NID card, Smart NID, laminated NID, online NID copy or NID number as one of the required Group A or Group B documents.
An ACSP may review the NID as additional information. It may help compare the applicant’s photograph, name, date of birth or identity number. However, the formal document combination should use a passport, a qualifying PRADO-listed driving licence or an accepted Group B document.
Who Must Complete Companies House Identity Verification?
The requirement applies to Bangladeshi nationals who are:
- directors of UK limited companies;
- becoming directors of UK companies;
- registered as PSCs;
- becoming PSCs of existing companies;
- forming companies in which they will act as directors or PSCs; or
- applying to register as Companies House authorised agents.
Mandatory identity verification began on 18 November 2025. That date started a 12-month transition period rather than creating one universal deadline for every existing director and PSC.
Existing directors normally provide their personal codes through their companies’ next confirmation statements. New directors provide the code during incorporation or as part of the appointment filing.
PSCs follow separate 14-day compliance periods. The correct period depends on whether the PSC also acts as a director and when Companies House first recorded the PSC.
How Can Bangladeshi Nationals Verify Their Identity?
Bangladeshi nationals can use one of two main routes.
1. Verify Through GOV.UK One Login
Companies House offers a free direct verification service that uses GOV.UK One Login.
An overseas applicant can normally use the online route where they hold a valid biometric passport. The currently published list includes:
- a biometric passport from any country;
- a UK photocard driving licence;
- a UK biometric residence permit;
- a UK biometric residence card; or
- a UK Frontier Worker permit.
The applicant also needs a personal email address, their current address and the year they moved there. Each person must use their own GOV.UK One Login email address for identity verification.
Using a Bangladesh E-Passport
A Bangladeshi national can normally try GOV.UK One Login with a current biometric e-passport.
The current Bangladesh ordinary passport appears on PRADO under reference BGD-AO-04001. Bangladesh first issued this model on 24 November 2019, and it can have a maximum validity of 10 years.
Bangladesh began issuing e-passports with biometric chips in early 2020. Older machine-readable passports remain in circulation and may still be issued in limited circumstances.
This distinction matters because GOV.UK One Login requires a non-UK passport with a biometric chip. An older machine-readable passport without a chip will not work through the app, even though it may remain a valid passport.
The app does not accept an expired passport.
Can You Use a Bangladesh NID Through GOV.UK One Login?
No. GOV.UK One Login does not list a Bangladeshi National Identity Card among the accepted online photographic documents.
The fact that a Smart NID contains biometric information does not place it within the GOV.UK One Login document list. A Bangladeshi applicant will normally need a compatible biometric passport for the overseas online route.
Can You Use a Bangladesh Driving Licence Through GOV.UK One Login?
Not as the driving-licence document in the online app.
The direct service accepts a UK photocard driving licence, not a Bangladesh driving licence. A qualifying Bangladesh motor driving licence may still work through a person-led ACSP check under the PRADO category.
Post Office Verification
Some applicants who live in the UK may receive the option to verify at a participating Post Office.
The applicant must first enter the requested identity details through GOV.UK One Login. The service then decides whether it can offer the Post Office route. The applicant cannot attend without first starting the online process.
For an applicant living in Bangladesh, remote verification through an ACSP may offer a more practical alternative where GOV.UK One Login does not work.
2. Verify Through an Authorised Corporate Service Provider
An Authorised Corporate Service Provider, or ACSP, can verify a client’s identity for Companies House.
ACSPs commonly include regulated solicitors, accountants and company service providers. An ACSP can complete its checks remotely or in person, but it must follow the full Companies House identity verification standard.
The ACSP route may suit a Bangladeshi director or PSC who:
- lives in Bangladesh or another country outside the UK;
- cannot use GOV.UK One Login;
- cannot scan the passport chip;
- holds an older machine-readable passport;
- wants to use a PRADO-listed motor driving licence;
- only has an NID as their second photographic document;
- needs help selecting a Group B document;
- has different spellings across their documents;
- uses several forenames or name prefixes;
- has changed their surname after marriage; or
- wants remote verification by video call.
How Many Documents Do You Need?
The answer depends on how the ACSP completes the identity check.
Option 1: Technology-Led Verification
One eligible document may be enough where the ACSP uses suitable identity document validation technology.
Companies House permits documents such as:
- a biometric or machine-readable passport;
- a UK or EU photocard driving licence;
- a biometric identity card from the EU, Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein;
- certain UK biometric immigration documents;
- a UK Frontier Worker permit; or
- an eVisa.
A biometric or machine-readable passport may be up to six months expired under this ACSP route if the technology can still validate its electronic security features.
For a Bangladeshi national, the most relevant Option 1 document will normally be a Bangladesh biometric or machine-readable passport.
A Bangladesh driving licence does not qualify through the Option 1 driving-licence category because that category covers UK and EU licences.
A Bangladesh Smart NID also does not qualify through the Option 1 identity-card category because Companies House limits that category to the EU, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein.
Option 2: Person-Led Remote or In-Person Verification
A trained person may inspect the documents during a video call or examine them in person.
Under this route, the applicant must provide:
- two Group A photographic identity documents; or
- one Group A photographic identity document and one Group B supporting document.
A person who lives outside the UK must provide at least one government-issued document.
For Bangladeshi applicants, the most practical combinations will often involve one Bangladesh passport and one suitable supporting document.
Group A Photographic ID for Bangladeshi Nationals
1. Bangladesh Passport
A Bangladesh passport normally provides the clearest Group A document.
PRADO currently lists four ordinary Bangladesh passport models:
- BGD-AO-04001, first issued on 24 November 2019;
- BGD-AO-03001, first issued on 1 January 2013;
- BGD-AO-02001, first issued on 1 January 2010; and
- BGD-AO-01001, first issued on 1 January 1996.
For a person-led Option 2 check, Companies House may accept a passport that expired within the previous 18 months.
However, you cannot use a passport that:
- has been cancelled;
- has been replaced by a newer passport;
- contains cancellation marks;
- has been cut or clipped; or
- cannot be validated satisfactorily.
A current biometric e-passport will normally make the process easier.
Bangladesh E-Passport and Machine-Readable Passport
Both e-passports and older machine-readable passports may provide Group A evidence during a person-led ACSP check.
However, the routes differ:
- GOV.UK One Login requires a current biometric passport.
- ACSP Option 1 may accept a biometric or machine-readable passport where suitable technology can validate it.
- ACSP Option 2 accepts a passport as Group A evidence, subject to the document checks and expiry rules.
Therefore, a Bangladeshi applicant with an older non-biometric machine-readable passport may still have an ACSP route even where the GOV.UK One Login app cannot read the document.
2. Bangladesh Motor Driving Licence
A Bangladesh motor driving licence may provide Group A photographic evidence for a person-led Option 2 check.
PRADO lists one Bangladesh driving-licence model:
- BGD-FO-01001;
- Motor Driving Licence;
- first issued on 1 January 2000; and
- currently recorded as a valid document model.
PRADO describes it as a card that establishes the holder’s identity within Bangladesh but does not prove Bangladeshi nationality.
Companies House includes another type of photographic identity document listed on PRADO within Group A. The listed Bangladesh licence may therefore qualify where the exact physical card matches the PRADO model and passes the required checks.
Not Every BRTA Licence Automatically Qualifies
Bangladesh Road Transport Authority now issues smart-card driving licences after collecting biometric data. BRTA also provides online driving-licence and electronic-certificate verification services.
However, PRADO currently lists only one specific Bangladesh motor driving licence model. You should not assume that every:
- BRTA smart-card licence;
- older laminated licence;
- e-driving licence;
- QR-code certificate;
- learner licence;
- temporary licence;
- application receipt; or
- digital screenshot
automatically qualifies as BGD-FO-01001.
Send clear images of both sides of the physical card for review before relying on it. The verifier should check:
- the exact card design;
- issue and expiry dates;
- photograph;
- document number;
- physical security features;
- condition of the card;
- whether BRTA has replaced it; and
- whether the details match the passport.
Where the card does not clearly match the PRADO entry, use the passport together with a Group B document instead.
3. Eligible UK-Issued Photographic Documents
A Bangladeshi national who lives in the UK may hold another Group A document, such as:
- a UK photocard driving licence;
- a UK biometric residence card;
- a qualifying UK biometric residence permit;
- a UK Frontier Worker permit;
- a photographic government-issued work permit;
- a photographic immigration document;
- a photographic visa; or
- an eVisa under the applicable verification route.
The ACSP must review the exact document and confirm that it fits the current Companies House rules.
Bangladeshi Documents You Should Not Rely On as Required Evidence
National Identity Card or Smart NID
Do not rely on a Bangladesh NID card as one of the required Group A or Group B documents.
This includes:
- an older laminated NID;
- a Smart NID card;
- an online NID copy;
- an NID information slip;
- an NID correction record;
- an NID application form;
- a screenshot from the NID service; or
- the NID number by itself.
The card may support an additional identity comparison, but it does not replace the required passport, PRADO-listed driving licence or Group B document under the current Companies House standard.
NID Number
A Bangladesh NID number is not a Companies House personal code.
Bangladesh identity numbers may appear in different lengths on official records. The Companies House personal code is a separate 11-character code created after successful Companies House identity verification.
Do not enter any of the following when Companies House asks for your personal code:
- NID number;
- passport number;
- driving-licence number;
- birth-registration number;
- UK National Insurance number;
- company authentication code; or
- tax identification number.
Online Passport or NID Application Screens
An application screen, appointment confirmation, payment receipt or screenshot does not replace an issued identity document.
The applicant must show the original identity documents during a person-led video call. The verifier may ask the applicant to move or tilt the document so that its photograph and physical security features can be examined.
Learner Driving Licence
Do not assume that a learner licence qualifies.
PRADO lists a specific physical motor driving licence model. A learner document, application slip or test result may not contain the same photograph, format or security features. Use a full physical driving licence or another accepted document.
Group B Supporting Documents
You can provide one Group B document where you only have one suitable Group A photographic identity document.
Companies House Group B documents include:
- birth or adoption certificate;
- marriage or civil partnership certificate;
- non-photographic immigration document;
- non-photographic visa;
- non-photographic work permit;
- bank or building society statement;
- mortgage statement showing the current address;
- utility bill showing the current address;
- insurance policy showing the current address;
- UK council tax statement; or
- a qualifying UK local-authority or social-housing rental agreement.
A Bangladeshi bank statement, mortgage statement, utility bill, birth certificate or marriage certificate may work where the ACSP can confirm that it:
- belongs to the applicant;
- comes from a genuine issuing organisation;
- clearly shows the relevant personal details;
- contains no signs of alteration;
- supports the claimed identity or address; and
- can be checked against an authoritative source where necessary.
Bangladesh Bank Statements
A Bangladesh bank statement may provide Group B evidence.
The statement should:
- show the applicant’s full name;
- identify the bank clearly;
- show a recent statement date;
- include genuine account activity;
- remain complete and legible;
- contain no signs of editing; and
- show the current address where the applicant relies on it for address evidence.
A complete PDF downloaded from online banking will generally provide stronger evidence than a cropped mobile-banking screenshot.
Bangladesh Utility Bills
A utility bill may provide Group B evidence where it clearly shows the applicant’s current residential address.
Examples may include:
- electricity bill;
- gas bill;
- water bill;
- fixed-line telephone bill; or
- another genuine household utility account.
The verifier must be able to identify the provider and connect the account to the applicant.
A mobile telephone bill may require individual review, especially where it does not clearly show a residential address.
Mortgage Statements and Insurance Policies
A mortgage statement may qualify where it clearly shows the applicant’s current home address.
An insurance policy may also provide Group B evidence where it identifies the applicant and current address.
The document should come from an identifiable lender or insurer and remain capable of independent validation.
Bangladesh Birth Certificates
A Bangladesh birth certificate may provide Group B evidence.
Bangladesh has used the Birth and Death Registration Information System, known as BDRIS, to record births centrally. Birth registration became compulsory under the Births and Deaths Registration Act 2004, and late registration remains possible.
For a stronger document set, provide an official, online-verifiable Birth Registration Certificate rather than relying only on:
- a hospital discharge document;
- school certificate;
- vaccination record;
- handwritten local letter;
- birth-registration application;
- screenshot; or
- informal copy.
The ACSP should review:
- the issuing authority;
- registration number;
- applicant’s full name;
- parents’ names;
- date of birth;
- date of registration;
- whether registration occurred late; and
- whether the record can be verified.
A late-registered certificate does not automatically fail, but the verifier may request more evidence where the registration history or personal information needs explanation.
Bangladesh Marriage Certificates
A Bangladesh marriage certificate may provide Group B evidence and can help connect a birth surname to a married surname.
The type of marriage document varies according to the marriage and religious system. For a Muslim marriage, a Kazi normally records the marriage and issues a Nikah Nama. Civil marriages are registered through the courts. Other religious communities may receive documents from the relevant religious or marriage registrar.
The applicant should provide the complete official document rather than only:
- a wedding photograph;
- invitation;
- ceremonial certificate;
- affidavit;
- translation without the original;
- handwritten summary; or
- partial copy.
A Bengali-language Nikah Nama may require an English translation. The translation supports the review but does not replace the original marriage record.
Recommended Document Combinations
Bangladesh Passport and PRADO-Listed Driving Licence
This combination may provide two Group A photographic documents.
The passport establishes identity and nationality. The qualifying physical driving licence provides a second photographic document.
Both documents should show consistent:
- names;
- date of birth;
- photograph; and
- other personal details.
The driving licence must match the PRADO-listed model and remain valid.
Bangladesh Passport and Bank Statement
This combination provides one Group A document and one Group B document.
It will often offer the clearest route where the applicant:
- does not drive;
- has a licence that does not match PRADO;
- only has an NID as their second photographic document; or
- wants to use evidence of recent financial activity.
Bangladesh Passport and Utility Bill
A utility bill may provide the second document where it clearly shows the current home address.
The provider and account details must be capable of validation.
Bangladesh Passport and Mortgage Statement
This combination may work where the mortgage statement clearly shows the applicant’s current residential address.
Bangladesh Passport and Insurance Policy
An insurance policy may provide Group B evidence where it displays the current address and comes from an identifiable insurer.
Bangladesh Passport and Birth Certificate
An official birth certificate may provide Group B evidence.
This combination may also help where:
- the passport omits part of a longer name;
- the applicant’s name has changed;
- Companies House records the name differently; or
- the verifier needs additional evidence of the date of birth.
Bangladesh Passport and Marriage Certificate
A marriage certificate or Nikah Nama may provide Group B evidence.
It can also connect:
- a birth surname;
- a husband’s surname;
- a former married surname;
- a shortened name; or
- another name used on UK documents.
Bangladesh Passport and UK Photocard Driving Licence
A Bangladeshi national living in the UK may use a valid UK photocard driving licence as the second Group A document.
This can provide two strong photographic documents.
Bangladesh Passport and UK Immigration Document
An eligible photographic UK immigration document may provide a second Group A document.
The ACSP must review its exact type, format and expiry position.
Bangladeshi Names, Prefixes and Spelling Differences
Bangladeshi identity documents require careful name checks.
Official UK guidance notes that Bangladeshi names may contain:
- one or more forenames;
- a surname;
- occasionally a family name;
- a male prefix such as Mohammed or MD; or
- a female prefix such as Mussamat, Mussamet, Mst, Mss or Most.
A surname may not always function as a shared family surname, and relatives or siblings can use different surname forms.
Mohammed, Mohammad, Muhammad and MD
The name Mohammed can appear in several spellings.
For example:
MOHAMMED RAHMAN;MOHAMMAD RAHMAN;MUHAMMAD RAHMAN;MD RAHMAN;MD. RAHMAN; orMOHD RAHMAN.
A difference in spelling does not always mean the records belong to different people. However, the ACSP must compare the passport, Companies House record and supporting documents carefully.
Mst, Most, Mussamat and Mussamet
Female names may include prefixes such as:
MST;MOST;MUSSAMAT;MUSSAMET; or- similar variants.
One document may treat the prefix as part of the forename, while another may omit it or place it in a different field.
The applicant should send all relevant documents where Companies House records a different version.
Names Without a Clear Family Surname
Some Bangladeshi documents may not follow a standard Western first-name and family-name structure.
One document may treat the final word as the surname, while another treats it as another forename. A UK company record may also divide the name differently from the passport.
Examples may include:
- a single name;
- several personal names without a hereditary surname;
- a father’s name used as a surname;
- a title or prefix included as a forename; or
- different surname forms used by members of the same family.
The passport should normally provide the main reference point for the Companies House verification.
Married Names
Bangladeshi women may add a husband’s surname after marriage. For example, a person may retain the original name and add the husband’s surname at the end.
This can create differences between:
- passport;
- Smart NID;
- Nikah Nama;
- bank statement;
- UK immigration record; and
- Companies House register.
A marriage certificate or Nikah Nama may help connect the names. Where the passport remains in the earlier name, additional linking evidence may be required.
Spacing, Hyphens and Punctuation
Check details such as:
MDandMD.;- joined or separated names;
- hyphenated names;
- apostrophes;
- initials;
- omitted middle names;
- reversed name order; and
- different English transliterations of Bengali names.
Before verification, compare:
- every forename;
- any prefix;
- the surname field;
- former and married names;
- the full date of birth;
- the passport;
- the proposed Group B document; and
- the Companies House register.
Check Your Date of Birth Before Verification
The date of birth connected to the personal code must match the date held by Companies House.
A mismatch may prevent the applicant from connecting the verified identity to a director or PSC role. Companies House recommends correcting inaccurate information before providing the personal code.
Problems may arise where:
- Companies House holds the wrong date;
- the passport and birth certificate show different dates;
- a late birth registration contains an error;
- someone entered the wrong date during incorporation; or
- the ACSP submitted incorrect personal information.
Companies House corrections can take time, so check the register before the compliance deadline.
Same-Day Remote Verification by Video Call
Our Legal Consultant is registered with Companies House as an Authorised Corporate Service Provider.
Through our partner solicitor, we can arrange remote Companies House identity verification by video call for Bangladeshi directors and PSCs.
Same-day verification and ACSP submission may be available where:
- we review and approve the documents in advance;
- the applicant provides all required personal information;
- the document combination meets the Companies House standard;
- the applicant has the original documents during the call;
- the verifier can validate the documents;
- the applicant appears clearly on camera;
- the Companies House information matches; and
- no unresolved identity or document concerns arise.
Same-day service covers the identity check and ACSP submission. Companies House controls the later processing and delivery of the personal code.
How the Remote Verification Process Works
Step 1: Send Your Documents
Send clear images of the documents you want to use.
For a passport, provide the complete personal-details page.
For a driving licence or other card, send both the front and reverse.
You must also provide:
- full name;
- all former names;
- date of birth;
- current home address;
- address history for the previous 12 months; and
- personal email address.
Companies House requires ACSPs to collect this information as part of the verification process.
Step 2: Confirm the Document Combination
We check whether each document falls within Group A or Group B.
The review may cover:
- the Bangladesh passport model;
- whether the passport is biometric or machine-readable;
- whether a driving licence matches BGD-FO-01001;
- the expiry dates;
- the condition of each document;
- name prefixes;
- spelling and transliteration differences;
- former and married surnames;
- the current home address; and
- the previous 12 months of address history.
Where the proposed documents do not meet the standard, we identify a stronger combination before arranging the video call.
Step 3: Attend the Video Call
During the call, you must:
- appear clearly on camera;
- show the original documents;
- move or tilt the documents when requested;
- display their security features from different angles;
- confirm your personal information;
- complete a live facial comparison; and
- answer any necessary identity questions.
The verifier must confirm that you are a real person, that the documents appear genuine and that the identity belongs to you.
Step 4: Complete the ACSP Submission
After completing the required checks, the ACSP submits the verification information to Companies House.
The ACSP does not normally send the identity-document copies to Companies House. However, it must retain the verification evidence and produce it if Companies House requests it.
Step 5: Receive Your Personal Code
Companies House sends the 11-character personal code to the individual email address used for the ACSP submission.
Keep the code secure. You may share it with a trusted solicitor, accountant or company administrator who needs to file on your behalf.
How Bangladeshi Directors Use the Personal Code
An existing director normally provides the personal code through the company’s next confirmation statement.
A new director provides the code as part of the appointment filing. When forming a new company, the incorporation application must include a personal code for each proposed director.
You only need to verify your identity once. However, you must connect the same code to every separate director appointment that you hold.
How Bangladeshi PSCs Use the Personal Code
A PSC must connect the personal code separately to the PSC role.
This applies even where the same person has already used the code as a director.
The deadline depends on the circumstances:
- A person who acts as both director and PSC of the same company normally provides the PSC code during the 14 days beginning on the day after the company’s confirmation statement date.
- A PSC who does not act as a director of the same company normally provides the code during the first 14 days of their birth month.
- A new PSC may provide the code when Companies House first records the PSC or within 14 days of being added.
The same code can cover several companies and roles. You must still connect it separately to every relevant director and PSC position.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use my Bangladesh passport?
Yes.
A Bangladesh passport provides Group A photographic identity evidence. A current biometric Bangladesh e-passport may also work through GOV.UK One Login.
Can I use an older machine-readable Bangladesh passport?
Potentially.
An older machine-readable passport can provide Group A evidence through an ACSP. It may also qualify under Option 1 where suitable technology can validate it.
However, a non-biometric passport will not work through the GOV.UK One Login app because that route requires a biometric passport from an overseas applicant.
Can I use an expired Bangladesh passport?
Potentially, depending on the verification route.
GOV.UK One Login does not accept an expired passport.
Under ACSP Option 1, suitable technology may accept a biometric or machine-readable passport that expired within the previous six months.
A person-led Option 2 check may accept a passport that expired within the previous 18 months.
The passport must not have been cancelled or replaced.
Can I use my Bangladesh NID card?
Do not rely on it as one of the required documents.
PRADO’s Bangladesh page does not currently list a national identity card category, and Companies House does not include a foreign NID in Group B.
Can I use my Smart NID?
Not as a replacement for a required Group A or Group B document under the current published rules.
The Smart NID may help with additional background checks, but prepare a passport and another accepted document.
Can I use an online NID copy?
No. An online NID printout or screenshot does not replace an accepted identity document.
Can I use my Bangladesh driving licence?
Potentially.
PRADO lists one Bangladesh Motor Driving Licence model under reference BGD-FO-01001. The exact physical card must match that model, remain valid and pass the required document checks.
Does every BRTA smart-card driving licence qualify?
Not automatically.
PRADO lists one specific driving-licence model. Send both sides of the physical card for review before relying on it.
Can I use an e-driving licence or QR-code certificate?
Do not rely on the electronic certificate alone.
BRTA provides electronic licence verification services, but the Companies House PRADO route depends on the qualifying photographic document. Prepare the original physical card.
Can I use a learner driving licence?
Do not assume that it qualifies.
A learner licence may not match the PRADO-listed full motor driving licence model.
Can I use a Bangladesh bank statement?
Potentially.
A bank statement falls within Group B. The document must be genuine, clear and capable of validation.
Can I use a Bangladesh utility bill?
Potentially.
A utility bill can provide Group B evidence where it clearly shows your current residential address.
Can I use a Bangladesh birth certificate?
Potentially.
A birth certificate falls within Group B. An official, online-verifiable Birth Registration Certificate normally provides stronger evidence than a hospital or informal record.
Can I use a Nikah Nama?
Potentially.
A marriage certificate falls within Group B, and a registered Nikah Nama may also connect a birth surname with a married surname. The ACSP must review the complete document and may request an English translation.
Can I use a court marriage certificate?
Potentially.
A formally registered civil marriage certificate may fall within Group B. The verifier must review the issuing authority and document format.
Do Bangladeshi documents need an English translation?
A translation may be required where important information appears only in Bengali and the verifier cannot understand or validate the document fully.
Provide both the original document and the translation.
What if my passport says MD but Companies House says Mohammed?
Send the complete document set for review.
The verifier must compare the passport, supporting documents and Companies House record. Variations involving Mohammed, Mohammad, Muhammad and MD may be explainable, but the records must support one identity.
What if my name includes Mst or Most?
Provide the passport and all relevant supporting documents.
Mst, Most, Mussamat and similar forms may appear differently across Bangladeshi records. The ACSP must confirm that the documents relate to the same person.
What if I changed my surname after marriage?
Provide your passport together with the marriage certificate or Nikah Nama and any updated identity documents.
Bangladeshi women may add a husband’s surname after marriage, which can create differences between older and newer records.
Can I verify my identity while living in Bangladesh?
Yes.
An ACSP can complete the identity check remotely where the documents meet the Companies House standard and the video process allows the verifier to confirm the applicant’s identity.
Do I always need two documents?
You need two documents for a person-led remote or in-person Option 2 check.
One eligible document may be enough under Option 1 where suitable technology validates all required security features.
Must I post my original Bangladesh passport?
Usually not for an approved remote video process.
You provide clear images for preliminary review and show the original documents during the video call.
Can I use one personal code as both a director and PSC?
Yes.
The personal code belongs to you. However, you must connect it separately to the director role and the PSC role.
Can You Complete the Verification on the Same Day?
Same-day verification and ACSP submission may be available where we approve the document set in advance and complete all checks without an unresolved issue.
Companies House controls when it issues and delivers the personal code.
Need Companies House Identity Verification for a Bangladeshi Director or PSC?
Bangladeshi nationals will normally have two practical document routes:
- a Bangladesh passport plus a motor driving licence that matches the PRADO-listed model; or
- a Bangladesh passport plus an accepted Group B supporting document.
Some cases need extra care, especially where the applicant has:
- only a Smart NID as the second document;
- a driving licence that does not match the PRADO model;
- only an e-driving licence or learner licence;
- an older machine-readable passport;
- a late-registered birth certificate;
- a Bengali Nikah Nama;
- Mohammed or MD spelling differences;
- an Mst, Most or Mussamat name prefix;
- a married or former surname;
- inconsistent dates of birth; or
- details that do not match the Companies House register.
Our Legal Consultant and partner solicitor can review your documents, confirm the most suitable route and arrange remote Companies House identity verification by video call.
Same-day verification and submission may be available where the applicant provides a complete and suitable document set.
