embassy attestation is the destination country’s consulate/embassy in London or in Europe adding its stamp to your document so it’s recognised abroad. In practice, many embassies first want an apostille and sometimes other pre-checks, then they add their own stamp(s).
All across Europe. We can arrange embassy attestations in every European jurisdiction. Our coverage includes:
– EU/EEA, Switzerland & UK: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark (incl. Faroe Islands), Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom.
If the destination is a Hague Apostille Convention country, an apostille is usually enough.
If the destination is not in the Apostille Convention, it typically requires Apostille + Embassy Attestation (and sometimes extra steps). Always confirm with the receiving authority.
China accepts apostilles. The Apostille Convention entered into force for China on 7 Nov 2023. For most public documents, Chinese consulates no longer do consular legalisation; an apostille should suffice unless a specific authority still asks otherwise.
As of today, both still require embassy attestation (after the apostille) for most document types. UAE explicitly states it is not part of the Apostille Convention; Qatar has not acceded to the Apostille Convention.
– Middle East: United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, Kuwait, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon.
– North Africa: Egypt, Algeria.
– Asia: Vietnam, Thailand, Taiwan.
Note: Requirements can change and certain authorities may ask for extra steps.
– Egypt (academic documents): Usually must be verified/stamped by the Egyptian Cultural & Educational Bureau (ECEB) before consulate stamping; some routes don’t require an FCDO apostille once ECEB has stamped. Timelines and fees vary.
– Taiwan: Apostille first, then Taipei Representative Office (TRO) authentication; paper apostilles required.
Often yes. Many Middle-East/North Africa embassies want Arab-British Chamber (or other chamber) stamps before they’ll attest commercial documents. Requirements differ by country and document type.
– Personal: birth/marriage certificates, police checks, degrees/transcripts, medical letters.
– Business: certificates of incorporation, powers of attorney, board resolutions, contracts, invoices, certificates of origin.
It depends on the embassy and the season. Many are a few working days once all prerequisites (apostille, chamber stamps, etc.) are in place; others can take longer (e.g., cultural-office verification for Egypt).
