LSST degree attestation for a UAE work visa: what may be needed
Your degree or other higher-education award certificate for study at London School of Science and Technology (LSST) may need attestation where the role or application requires an attested qualification. A transcript may be requested for academic verification without necessarily needing its own apostille or UAE attestation. MoHESR qualification recognition, sometimes called degree equivalency, may also be relevant. The employer, job classification and authority processing the work permit determine the applicable requirements.

For a foundation degree, HNC, HND, CertHE or professional qualification, use the exact award title and level shown on the document. These awards should not be described as a bachelor’s degree merely because the course was offered through a university centre. Whether the particular qualification meets the employer’s academic requirement or falls within a recognition service must be confirmed separately.

The two-working-day timeframe applies to the UK apostille stage only. University document production, verification, solicitor certification, UAE processing and delivery require additional time. A separate qualification-recognition process, where requested, has its own requirements and timing.
Use the university issuer on the LSST qualification
LSST’s published registration and certification procedure distinguishes University of West London, De Montfort University and Buckinghamshire New University programmes. It describes award certificates and transcripts being provided by the relevant university and sent to LSST for distribution. The teaching college’s name alone therefore does not identify the awarder for every graduate.
The procedure is dated September 2023, so use it as background and ask LSST to confirm the current arrangement for your course and award year. Include both the LSST campus and university named on the certificate. If a document is missing, establish whether it is awaiting initial distribution or whether a replacement needs to be requested.

Account for the DMU teach-out arrangement
De Montfort University says its LSST partnership began with DMU-validated courses in 2022/23 and will end after the final September 2025 intake completes. Its announcement provides for existing enrolled students to complete their awards under the agreed academic arrangements, while new recruitment to those programmes has stopped.
A graduate or continuing student should therefore describe the actual DMU programme and cohort, rather than infer a different awarding university from later LSST admissions information. If you require evidence before the certificate is available, ask for confirmation of your present academic status and the final award once approved. Keep any individual teach-out or completion correspondence with the other study records.

Obtain the academic certificate rather than the ceremonial scroll
LSST’s current graduation FAQ explains that the scroll presented at the ceremony is commemorative and that the official certificate for the BNU ceremony is issued separately by Buckinghamshire New University. The ceremony date and the arrival of the academic document are consequently separate practical steps for the graduates covered by that guidance.
Check which ceremony and university your instructions relate to before relying on them. If a UAE recipient has requested academic evidence, provide the university-issued certificate and ask whether a final transcript is also required. Contact LSST about document availability before booking an attestation service, particularly where you currently hold only the ceremonial scroll or an invitation to graduate.

Degree certificate and transcript: do both need attestation?
Have your LSST transcript available if it is requested, but clarify what “provide a transcript” means. It may mean a scan, secure university sharing, a direct university response or a separately legalised document. VFS Global’s official MoHESR guidance states that attestation is not required for its verification stage. That statement concerns that particular stage; it does not settle every employer’s or licensing authority’s requirements.

If both the degree certificate and a separate transcript require UAE Embassy attestation through London, they need separate apostilles. The Embassy does not accept independent documents bundled under one apostille. Send every page of a multi-page transcript so we can review the complete document; this does not mean each page automatically needs a separate apostille.

Solicitor certification and a two-working-day UK apostille
Where legalisation is required for an eligible UK-issued qualification, the usual route described here is UK solicitor or notary certification → FCDO apostille → combined UAE Embassy and MoFA attestation through London. Ginkgo’s service uses solicitor certification following the necessary review; a separate notary stage should not be assumed necessary unless the recipient specifies it.
The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office authenticates the relevant signature, stamp or seal. It does not itself determine the truth of every academic detail or grant UAE qualification recognition. University evidence is reviewed separately, and confirmation of an award does not automatically verify every module mark.

UAE Embassy London and MoFA digital attestation
The London Embassy’s current digital service covers both Embassy and MoFA attestation. For UK-issued documents, it requires a physical document that has already been legalised by the FCDO. After successful processing, a digitally attested copy is issued and the physical document is returned. The digital UAE output is different from a UK e-Apostille or a university’s digital certificate.
The Embassy permits eligible academic originals or true copies following the required prior legalisation, but the employer or other end recipient may specify an original. We check that distinction before preparing the submission. Laminated documents are not accepted under the Embassy’s published rules. For overseas-campus or partner-issued paperwork, the issuer and country of issue must also be reviewed before assuming the London route applies.
Study at a UK college, including one in Northern Ireland, does not by itself make an Irish or other overseas-issued award a UK-issued document. Such documents need the applicable issuing-country route.

MoHESR recognition, degree equivalency and MoHRE work permits
MoFA document attestation and recognition by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) serve different purposes. For skilled employment, the employer may need academic verification or a qualification-recognition result in addition to the attested document. A UK solicitor’s verification or an HEDD response should not automatically be treated as the report required by the UAE recognition process.
The May 2025 MoHRE–MoHESR integration announcement describes academic verification within work-permit procedures for overseas-qualified private-sector workers at skill levels 1–4. MoHRE’s February 2026 update also describes electronic checking of recognition for skilled labour. These announcements make it sensible to confirm how the employer’s application handles recognition; they do not, by themselves, establish that every applicant must independently obtain a separate recognition certificate.

Where a separate MoHESR recognition application is requested, the official route distinguishes qualification verification from the subsequent recognition decision. Ask the employer or its visa-processing team whether a recognition report is required from you or whether the relevant check is incorporated into its application.

Mainland employment, free-zone employers and job classifications
MoHRE’s overseas-work-permit checklist varies the academic qualification requirement by skill level and lists no academic-certificate requirement for skill levels 6–9. This is not a blanket rule for every employment or residence route. Confirm the job title, occupational classification, emirate and whether the employer operates on the mainland or in a free zone. A professional regulator or receiving organisation may have its own evidence requirements.

- All transcript pages and any university letter that the recipient has requested; identify which documents it says must be attested.
- Your name during study, qualification, course dates, award year and student number if available.

- Any official digital-document sharing link or information about the university sharing options and verification evidence already available.
- The employer or recipient’s written checklist, job title, and whether the application concerns mainland employment, a free zone, professional licensing or further study.
- Any request for a MoHESR recognition report, degree equivalency, pre-visa academic verification or an attested transcript.
- Your deadline, current document location and delivery destination, plus any difference between your study name and current identity document.

Frequently asked questions about LSST UAE attestation
Is LSST degree attestation enough for every UAE work visa?
It may address the document-legalisation requirement, but a work-permit application can also involve qualification verification, MoHESR recognition or professional licensing. Ask the employer which checks apply to your role and whether any recognition step is handled within its application.
Does my transcript automatically need an apostille and UAE attestation?
No automatic conclusion should be drawn from a request to provide a transcript. It may be needed only for verification or upload. VFS’s MoHESR guidance does not require attestation for its verification stage. If the recipient separately requires London Embassy attestation of both documents, each needs its own apostille.
Does the end of the DMU partnership change an existing LSST award?
DMU’s announcement provides for existing students to complete their validated awards. Use the actual university and qualification on the final documents, and confirm individual arrangements with LSST or DMU.
Can I use the scroll received at an LSST ceremony?
The current BNU graduation FAQ calls it commemorative. Obtain the official university-issued certificate for the academic award and any transcript the recipient specifically requests.
Can I start from Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah or another country?
You can send scans and the receiving organisation’s instructions for an initial review. Secure university sharing may support verification. We then confirm the appropriate physical-document requirements and collection or delivery arrangements for the legalisation route.
Does the two-working-day service include university verification and UAE MoFA?
No. It refers only to Ginkgo’s UK paper-apostille stage after the documents are ready. Verification, university document production, solicitor certification, UAE Embassy and MoFA processing, and courier transit are additional.
Can an online or overseas-partner degree be attested for UAE use?
The issuing body, country of issue, award details and supporting university evidence need to be reviewed. Attestation and recognition are separate questions. The employer, recognition authority or regulator may request information about study mode or location, so acceptance should not be promised from the university name alone.
Is Arabic translation always needed for an English UK degree?
The requirement depends on the receiving process. VFS’s MoHESR verification guidance asks for a legal translation where documents are not in Arabic or English. That does not determine the requirements of every other employer or authority; confirm the recipient’s instructions before commissioning a translation.
