Need a P60 apostille for Greece? Ginkgo Advisory provides solicitor verification and certification of suitable UK P60 documents, followed by an express 2 working day paper apostille or express 1 working day e-Apostille service.

If you have moved from the UK to Greece and your accountant or a Greek authority has requested an authenticated P60, we can help prepare your document for overseas use. Send us your P60 and the request you received so we can review the required certification, apostille format and deadline.

Already living in Greece? You can start the process remotely by sending your document for an initial review.

What is a P60?

A P60 is a UK end-of-year PAYE certificate showing pay and tax information for the tax year ending on 5 April. Your employer provides it, either on paper or electronically. It is not normally a document issued and signed personally by an HMRC officer.

When dealing with tax or business arrangements after relocating to Greece, you may be asked to provide evidence of your previous UK earnings or tax paid. If the request specifically names a P60 and requires an apostille, our service can help with the UK document preparation and legalisation stages.

The documents needed depend on the particular application. A P60 should not be treated as a universal requirement for everyone moving to Greece or setting up a Greek company.

What if you have been asked for a “P60 signed by HMRC”?

Send us the exact wording before arranging certification. The receiving authority may be asking for an authenticated P60, or it may require a separate HMRC document.

A P60 and an HMRC Certificate of Residence serve different purposes. A P60 records employment pay and tax information. An HMRC Certificate of Residence confirms UK tax residence for relevant purposes, subject to HMRC’s eligibility requirements. Solicitor certification of a P60 does not replace that certificate.

If the Greek authority specifically requires HMRC-issued evidence or an HMRC official’s signature, ask whether it will accept a solicitor-certified P60 before proceeding. This helps avoid legalising a document that does not meet the request.

Our P60 solicitor verification and certification service

Ginkgo Advisory can review your P60, carry out the appropriate verification and prepare solicitor certification for the agreed purpose.

Depending on the document and the certification required, we may need the original electronic P60, the paper original, or supporting evidence of its source. We will explain what is needed after reviewing your document. Any certification of authenticity must be supported by the verification completed.

Our service can include:

  • Reviewing the P60 and the receiving authority’s instructions.
  • Confirming the verification evidence required.
  • Preparing the appropriate solicitor certification.
  • Arranging the selected FCDO apostille service.
  • Providing the completed electronic document or arranging return of the paper document.

UK government guidance allows documents certified by a UK solicitor or notary to be legalised where eligible. The recipient’s requirements determine whether solicitor certification is suitable for your submission.

Express P60 apostille services

Once your P60 has been verified and certified, we can arrange the appropriate apostille through the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).

ServiceExpress processing targetWhat you receive
Paper apostille2 working daysThe solicitor-certified document with a physical FCDO apostille attached
e-Apostille1 working dayAn electronically certified document within the FCDO’s digitally signed PDF package

These are Ginkgo Advisory’s express service targets for suitable, submission-ready documents. Verification, obtaining additional evidence, translation and courier delivery may require extra time. We confirm the expected timetable after reviewing your document and deadline; completion remains subject to FCDO processing and any additional checks.

The FCDO’s published general e-Apostille timeframe is up to two working days, with additional time possible where further checks are needed.

Paper apostille for a P60

Our express 2 working day paper apostille service is suitable when the receiving office requires a physical legalised document. We prepare the agreed solicitor certification and arrange the paper apostille, with return or overseas delivery discussed when you instruct us.

Tell us your Greek delivery address and submission deadline at the outset so we can account for delivery time separately.

P60 e-Apostille

Our express 1 working day e-Apostille service offers an electronic route for suitable P60 documents and submissions.

The FCDO requires an appropriate advanced or qualified electronic signature. Simply scanning a handwritten signature does not provide that digital certification. We arrange the required solicitor signing as part of preparing your document.

Keep the complete electronic file supplied to you, including its attachments and digital signatures. A printout does not preserve the electronic authentication features.

Can a UK P60 e-Apostille be used in Greece?

Greek official guidance recognises electronic apostilles. It also explains that the acceptance and evidential value of the underlying document remain subject to the destination country’s law. An apostille authenticates the relevant signature and capacity; it does not verify the document’s financial contents.

Before choosing your service, ask your Greek accountant or receiving office:

  • Is a solicitor-certified P60 the document required for this application?
  • How should the complete e-Apostille PDF be submitted, or is a paper submission required?
  • Is an official Greek translation needed, including the certification and apostille?

If a translation is required, confirm the accepted translator and format before arranging it. Provide the translator with the complete final document package.

How to arrange your P60 apostille from Greece

  1. Send your P60 for review. Provide a clear copy or the original PDF, together with the Greek authority’s or accountant’s instructions.
  2. Tell us your deadline. Include whether the document will be submitted online or physically, if known.
  3. Complete verification. We explain any additional evidence needed and confirm the certification, fee and expected timetable.
  4. Choose your apostille service. Select the suitable paper or electronic option once the receiving requirements are clear.
  5. Receive your completed document. We provide the e-Apostilled file electronically or arrange return of the paper document.

For the initial review, please also tell us which UK tax year or years are required. This is particularly helpful if the request covers several years of previous employment.

Frequently asked questions

Can you help if I have already moved to Greece?

Yes. Ginkgo Advisory can begin with a remote document review. Whether further evidence or a paper original is needed depends on your P60 and the required certification.

Can an electronic P60 be reviewed for certification?

Yes. Employers can issue P60s electronically. Send the original PDF where available so we can assess its suitability and the verification required.

Does my P60 need a notary, or can a solicitor certify it?

A UK solicitor can certify an eligible document for apostille purposes. If the Greek recipient specifically requires a notarial act, obtain clarification before choosing solicitor certification.

Does an apostille confirm my UK tax residence?

No. An apostille authenticates the relevant signature or seal. It does not establish your tax residence or replace evidence requested from HMRC.

What if I have lost my P60?

Ask your employer for a replacement. HMRC may provide equivalent pay and tax information if you cannot obtain one, but check whether the Greek recipient accepts that alternative.
