Legal Consultant of Ginkgo Advisory

St Antony’s College is a constituent college of the University of Oxford. The University awards and verifies qualifications obtained by its students.

Ginkgo Advisory can assist with HEDD verification, enhanced solicitor certification, FCDO apostille and embassy legalisation. A 2 working day express FCDO apostille option is available for suitable documents after verification and certification are complete.

Quick answer

St Antony’s College qualifications are verified by the University of Oxford.

The usual route is:

University of Oxford verification → enhanced solicitor certification → FCDO apostille → embassy legalisation where required

Third-party degree checks can be submitted through HEDD. Oxford requires its own Consent to Disclosure form with a genuine wet-ink signature.

HEDD degree verification

HEDD can check:

  • current or former student status;
  • the qualification awarded;
  • the grade or classification; and
  • attendance dates.

Current students should provide their course start year and expected end year.

The request must use the University of Oxford consent form. It should name both:

  • HEDD; and
  • the organisation submitting the enquiry.

The candidate must sign the form using a pen. Oxford does not accept typed names, handwriting fonts, pasted signature images or non-verifiable electronic signatures.

The completed form may be uploaded as a PDF, JPG, PNG or TIF.

Short and external Oxford courses

HEDD cannot verify many short or external Oxford programmes, including some Executive Leadership Programmes.

Alternative verification may need to come from:

  • Saïd Business School;
  • Oxford Lifelong Learning;
  • the Department for Continuing Education;
  • the programme provider; or
  • another awarding body named on the document.

We review the certificate wording before selecting the verification route.

Oxford eDocuments and direct verification

Students and alumni may also have access to secure University of Oxford eDocuments.

These may include:

  • degree certificates;
  • degree confirmation letters;
  • academic transcripts;
  • on-course transcripts; and
  • diploma supplements.

Solicitors and notaries may also submit certain verification requests directly to Oxford’s Degree Conferrals Team.

Solicitor verification and certification

A basic certified true copy confirms that the copy matches the document presented to the solicitor.

It does not automatically prove that Oxford issued the document or that the candidate obtained the stated qualification.

Our enhanced service reviews the document against available official evidence, such as:

  • a HEDD result;
  • direct Oxford confirmation;
  • an Oxford eDocument;
  • a degree confirmation letter; or
  • an academic transcript.

Where the evidence supports it, the solicitor can provide certification with authenticity confirmation.

FCDO apostille

After verification and solicitor certification, the document can proceed to the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office.

An apostille confirms the relevant UK signature, stamp or seal. It does not independently verify the degree.

The recommended sequence is:

academic verification → enhanced solicitor certification → FCDO apostille

Ginkgo Advisory offers a 2 working day express FCDO apostille option for suitable documents.

The timeframe begins after verification and certification are ready. It excludes HEDD processing, Oxford record searches, courier delivery and embassy processing.

Embassy legalisation

Documents intended for a non-Hague destination may require further embassy or consular legalisation.

A typical route is:

solicitor certification → FCDO legalisation → embassy legalisation

The receiving authority may also request an official transcript, university letter, certified translation or supporting identity documents.

What to send us

Please provide:

  • a clear scan of the academic document;
  • the candidate’s name during study;
  • the St Antony’s College affiliation;
  • the course and qualification;
  • attendance dates;
  • graduation year;
  • student number, if known;
  • the destination country; and
  • the receiving authority’s instructions.

We will identify whether HEDD, direct Oxford verification or an Oxford eDocument route is most suitable.
