The Taipei Representative Office in the UK states that it does not take responsibility for third-party services, including agents, post offices and delivery service providers.

If an agent, friend or family member acts on your behalf, you should prepare the agent submission documents carefully before posting the application to TRO London.

Application Form Signed by the Applicant

The agent should enclose the same authentication application form signed by the applicant.

TRO accepts a form with the applicant’s scanned signature. However, the agent must complete the agent information section on the form and add the agent’s wet signature.

This helps TRO London identify both the applicant and the authorised agent handling the document authentication application.

Original Letter of Authorisation with One Photocopy

The agent must provide an original Letter of Authorisation, together with one photocopy.

The applicant must sign the authorisation letter. TRO requires the applicant’s signature to be notarised as genuine by a notary, solicitor or R.O.C. overseas office.

The TRO authorisation letter template confirms that the applicant authorises the agent to present and collect documents for authentication purposes at the Taipei Representative Office in the UK. It also states that the signature must be notarised as genuine and that the agent can be either an individual or a company.

TRO does not accept alternative formats. You should follow the required authorisation letter format to avoid delay or rejection.

Agent’s Identification Documents

The agent should provide clear and high-quality identification documents.

This should include:

  • a clear, unobstructed photocopy of the agent’s valid passport
  • a copy of the agent company’s certificate of incorporation, if applicable

If a professional agency acts for the applicant, the company document helps TRO London identify the organisation handling the submission.

TRO may request extra supporting documents depending on the circumstances of the application.

TRO London Processing Time

The processing time starts from the date when TRO receives both:

  • the payment, or proof of payment
  • all required documents

The processing time does not include postal delivery time.

TRO may extend the processing time where necessary.
