What is a UK e-Apostille?
It is an electronic apostille issued by the FCDO for an eligible UK document. You receive a digitally legalised PDF for electronic sharing. Ginkgo Advisory handles preparation and submission; the FCDO issues the e-Apostille.
Will the overseas recipient accept a digital document?
Confirm the required format with the recipient before proceeding. If a paper apostille is requested, use that route. Tell us the destination and intended use when you enquire.
Which documents are excluded from e-Apostille?
GOV.UK excludes documents from the General Register Office, including birth, death, marriage, civil partnership and adoption certificates; ACRO and DBS certificates for England and Wales; disclosure certificates for Scotland and Northern Ireland; fingerprint certificates; and ACCA membership certificates.
Does the PDF need a solicitor’s electronic signature?
Yes. The UK electronic route requires a PDF signed electronically by a UK solicitor or notary. Our solicitor prepares the certification for suitable documents.
How long does the complete service take?
The FCDO timeframe above covers its processing stage. The overall time also depends on preparation, solicitor checks and any response needed from the issuing institution. We can discuss the expected timing after reviewing your document.
Will you need my original document?
That depends on the document and the verification required. We’ll confirm what you need to provide after reviewing your enquiry. An electronic final document does not remove the need for appropriate checks.
How can someone verify an e-Apostille?
Use the official GOV.UK verification service with the apostille number and issue date. The same service checks UK paper and electronic apostilles.
