University of Chester Degree Certificate for Thailand: Solicitor Certification, FCDO Apostille and e-Apostille

Ginkgo Advisory

If a Thai employer, university or authority has asked for your University of Chester degree certificate, the preparation starts with the document and the intended submission. Ginkgo Advisory provides solicitor-led support with UK certification, FCDO paper apostilles and eligible e-Apostilles, together with Thai Embassy legalisation where required.

Chester degree certificate and transcript: start with the right records

Chester directs third-party factual award and attendance checks to HEDD and requires written consent. Its guidance distinguishes those checks from an academic or character reference, for which the student should approach a suitable staff member. A reference does not replace the qualification document.

Use the Chester academic records and verification guidance when checking the applicable record or verification service. Specify whether the Thai recipient seeks degree authentication, a factual award check or a detailed reference. Include the registered name and academic dates consistently.

Send the actual document, including any reverse-side wording, together with the Thai recipient\’s checklist. Tell us the award date, the name used while studying and whether the record is an original paper document, a certified copy or an official electronic record. This helps us match the preparation to your award.

Thailand legalisation changes on 28 February 2027

Thailand deposited its instrument of accession to the 1961 Hague Apostille Convention on 30 June 2026. The official HCCH announcement gives 28 February 2027 as the Convention\’s entry-into-force date for Thailand.

When the document is used Authentication route
Before 28 February 2027 Where full legalisation is required: appropriate preparation, FCDO legalisation, then Royal Thai Embassy legalisation.
From 28 February 2027 For documents covered by the Convention where it applies between the UK and Thailand: an FCDO apostille replaces further Thai Embassy or consular legalisation.

The Royal Thai Embassy legalisation instructions describe the FCDO-and-embassy chain for UK documents. Its reference to an original document means a proposed certified-copy submission should be checked before preparation. Accession in June does not itself bring forward the February change.

The HCCH status table and Convention text are relevant to UK-Thailand application, including the accession objection procedure. For a submission around the changeover, confirm the applicable route and intended use date. The Convention removes the consular authentication stage for covered documents; separate requirements for the underlying academic record can remain.

Our solicitor certification service for Chester documents

Our solicitor reviews the document, available verification evidence and recipient\’s instructions before preparing the agreed certification. A certified true copy and an academic-authenticity check address different questions. We explain the checks needed for your Chester degree certificate or transcript and what the certification will confirm.

Tell us whether the recipient specifies an original, a solicitor-certified copy, a notary or particular wording. We can then assess the UK solicitor certification service against those instructions. Please contact us before posting originals so we can confirm what must be inspected and the available arrangements.

UK FCDO apostille for a Chester degree certificate

An FCDO apostille authenticates the relevant signature, seal or stamp. It does not itself verify every academic statement or decide whether the qualification meets a Thai employment or registration requirement. GOV.UK legalisation guidance explains the UK preparation and application rules, including certification for qualification documents.

Our UK FCDO apostille service covers the agreed preparation, submission and return arrangements. For an applicable pre-28 February 2027 full-legalisation route, we can also arrange Royal Thai Embassy attestation and legalisation in London. We confirm the required stages before proceeding.

UK FCDO e-Apostille service for Chester academic records

The UK electronic route requires a PDF electronically signed by a UK solicitor or notary. A university e-certificate, a QR code or a scan of the paper certificate is not, by itself, an FCDO e-Apostille. Our UK FCDO e-Apostille service includes suitability review and the agreed electronic certification and submission for eligible documents.

HCCH guidance explains that an e-Apostille has the same validity as a paper apostille and cannot be refused solely for being electronic where the Convention applies. For Thailand from 28 February 2027, this must be read with UK-Thailand treaty application and the document\’s scope. Confirm how the receiving office will receive the electronic file and whether the underlying academic record must also be presented in another form.

For use before that date, an electronic apostille should not be assumed to replace the embassy stage. Check the accepted embassy format first. An electronic final document also does not remove the need for appropriate academic-document and identity checks.

Does a Thailand application also need the transcript?

A request for a legalised Chester degree certificate does not establish that the transcript must also be authenticated. For employment, a work permit, a Non-Immigrant B visa, teaching registration or further study, obtain the checklist for that particular submission. Confirm which records need authentication, whether a Thai translation is requested and whether separate university verification or professional recognition applies.

If both documents are needed, ask whether separate apostilles are required or a properly certified set is accepted. A transcript, a HEAR, a diploma supplement and an award-confirmation letter can provide different information. Any proposed substitute should be agreed with the recipient.

Frequently asked questions

When does an apostille replace Thai Embassy legalisation?

From 28 February 2027, for covered documents where the Convention applies between the UK and Thailand, an FCDO apostille replaces further embassy or consular legalisation. Before then, documents requiring full legalisation follow the applicable embassy route.

Can Ginkgo Advisory certify my Chester degree for Thailand?

We can review the document and recipient\’s instructions, confirm suitable solicitor preparation and arrange the agreed FCDO submission. Include any requirement for a notary, an original or particular certification wording.

Can I use an e-Apostille for my Chester degree or transcript?

We can assess eligibility and electronic preparation. The intended use date, applicable authentication chain and method for receiving the underlying academic record must also be considered before choosing the service.

Must my degree and transcript both receive an apostille?

Check the specific application instructions. The documents and format required can differ by recipient and purpose; do not assume that an instruction about the degree certificate also covers every academic record.

Can I enquire if I am already in Thailand?

Yes. Send readable copies and the written requirements for an initial review. We will confirm what evidence, official sharing access or physical documents are needed before you arrange delivery.
