The main difference is that an affidavit uses a religious oath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Marital Status Affirmation or Affidavit<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A marital status affirmation confirms your marital status for the Brazilian marriage or civil partnership process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the Brazilian authority asks for a <strong>marital status affidavit<\/strong>, you should select <strong>religious<\/strong> when the online form asks which type of declaration you want to make.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The British embassy or consulate will then prepare the affidavit for you to check and sign at your appointment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before applying, check with the Brazilian notarial office or local authority. It usually applies to divorces completed before 6 April 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A <strong>Final Order<\/strong> is the current final divorce order.
