Useful information
Before you begin.
The recipient’s instructions help determine the form of certification you need.
What is a certified true copy?
A copy signed and dated by a professional, such as a solicitor, to confirm that it matches the original seen. The organisation requesting it may specify who can certify it and what wording is required.
Can certification be arranged remotely?
It may be available where suitable for the document and accepted by the recipient. We will confirm what originals, digital sources or identity checks are needed after reviewing your enquiry.
Do I need to send the original?
We will explain what needs to be inspected once we have reviewed your requirements. Please contact us with a readable copy and the recipient’s instructions before posting originals.
Is certification the same as an apostille?
They are separate steps. Certification concerns the copy; an apostille authenticates a signature, stamp or seal for overseas use. Check whether the recipient needs an original or a certified copy and whether further legalisation is required.
Can you send a paper certified copy?
Yes. Wet-ink signed copies can be sent by post or courier to UK or overseas addresses. Include the delivery address when requesting your quotation.
Can I enquire for someone else?
Yes. If you act for another person or a company, we may need to confirm your authority and complete relevant identity checks.
